The Croft - Shetland Tweed from West Yorkshire Spinners is a beautiful Aran weight yarn produced from 100% Shetland Island wool. Shetland fibre is celebrated for its fineness, warmth and strength. The wool is sourced directly from Jamieson & Smith of Shetland.
This beautiful & unique yarn is spun with 100% Shetland Island wool. Located about 100 miles off the northeastern coast of Scotland, the Shetland Islands are renowned for their sheep that produce soft, yet strong, durable wool. The versatile, worsted/aran weight yarn has a gorgeous array of dappled & solid colorways that are ideal for warm, cozy garments & accessories.
The high levels of crimp and wave in the fleece make it ideal for a hand knitting yarn. The Croft has a soft and silky handle that retains a lot of durability particularly suited to our new tweed collection.
Crofting is integral to the landscape, cultural heritage and social economy of the Shetland Islands. It bonds people and places in a unique way, preserving livelihoods and age old traditions.
